Know any reluctant 6-11 year olds who need inspiration with art or writing? Or inspired artists or writers who need a space to develop their talent?
I am passionate about inspiring children to emerge as confident artists and writers. I am an artist, a writer and a teacher. I graduated from Oxford in 2007 and I am a current Fine Art student at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham. I have 10 years' teaching experience and I teach Paint Write Now Creative Writing and Art Classes for 6-11 year olds in small groups in Wimbledon and Raynes Park.
CREATIVE WRITING CLASSES Using art, games, drama and music, I help students gather ideas and develop their own setting, character/s and plot within our theme (recent themes include: "Fantastical Creatures", "Quests" and "Under the Ground"). Then, in the writing stage, I discuss and model creative writing techniques.
My daughter Charlotte loves this class and we love it as Charlotte doesn't realise she is learning. Charlotte has a great imagination and Katherine has been able to channel that into some amazing stories. Daniela Sarti, Wimbledon, 2017

ART CLASSES I create a safe and positive space in which students can gain confidence exploring the imagination through art. Each half of term there is a different theme for the classes, for example, "Dream Worlds", "Quests" and "Codes". In the class we play creative games, experiment with materials (such as drawing, painting, collaging and printing), look at work by artists, learn formal skills (e.g. observational drawing, tone and shade and colour mixing). Most importantly, I teach students to trust their intuition and to have the confidence to creatively explore.
I loved the creative writing/art club because we had fun! Katherine showed me to turn mistakes into something fantastic. Robert, aged 6, Raynes Park
