Good mainstream schools in Enfield (or nearby boroughs) with autism unit

Just wondered if any childcare professionals or parents know of any good primary schools. We are looking for schools with an additional resource unit that specialise in autism, (language and communication).

Hoping anyone may have some first hand experience or advice. Heard about Bowes and Debohun.

Thanks so much.

West Grove used to be pretty good and had a special facility for children with additional needs. Not sure how funding has affected that in the last couple of years, but well worth checking out.

@tkband3 thanks for your reply. I heard it's a good school too but wasn't aware about the additional facility. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Thanks Smile

It's often a school that gets overlooked - high proportion of pupil premium and EAL kids, but it's a great school, with excellent facilities (relatively newly built) and the teaching and pastoral care is very good. My children flourished there.

Great thanks for the info. I'll try to arrange a visit. It's tough to know what the Sen support is like in
a mainstream. You just have to go with what you've been told by the Senco and during the visit. This is always that we can fulfill the needs of your child. But we were promised the world at the school my child is at (also outstanding at recent Ofsted) and now they give minimum support and are encouraging us to move him.

Hiya,

So I'm still searching for a school now with an ARP or autism unit. Any help would be appreciated.

tkband3 - thanks for your rec. I called West Grove but the Senco put me off !!
