Hi all,
I am moving to edinburgh from India for my postdoctoral studies along with my husband and 4 year old daughter. Most probably we will be travelling by early January 2018. My daughter would be 4 years 8 months by then (May born). My husband would be searching for jobs after reaching there. I am confused about my daughter's admission. Where should be she admitted? To a nursery or primary school (P1) . In India she is in lower kinder garten and is quite familiar with english alphabets and numbers (both reading and writing). Also when is the time to take admission to nurseries ( if she is to be admitted to a nursery) or primary school (P1)? Kindly give your suggestions Smile

I don't think she will start school until August. Nursery admission is all year round.

She will be eligible for the free hours. Not sure how much you would pay to a private nursery.

Primary 1 registration takes place in November. Nursery, council run nurseries, you just phone. You might have to phone about to get a private nursery place.

You can register until March to your local school so you will have time when you have moved to your catchment area
