So who is from the Morecambe Bay Area?

GinFirstQuestionsLater · 19/07/2017 14:31

So how many other mumsnetters are from the Morecambe Bay Area?
Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham, Galgate, Carnforth, Overton, Middleton and I'll throw in Hest Bank and Bolton Le Sands for free along with anywhere I've missed.

Do you know your Diggles from your Whaletail?
Your Lewis's from your Macaris?
Can you walk past Gillisons and Gorills?
Do you prefer Williamson or Happy Mount?

There must be some of us around. I'm pretty sure I can spot Mumsnetters from a mile off and I try to spot you when I'm out and about. Not. Stalkery. At. All.

So do you live around here?

Wallings we did try and treat it as a main meal and my teens & DH can eat an awful lot!! Will def stick to the bowl only option if there is ever a next time.

Sadly not mine are too old for soft play these days!

fourcorneredcircle · 23/07/2017 01:19

I enjoy the bunfights on Lancaster P&P too. I enjoy them so much I'm also a member of Morecambe P&P and Carnforth too... I drew the line at Garstang Blush

I've never been to the "leisure park" yet... my son's only seven weeks old so the delight of Giggles is yet to come.

GinFirstQuestionsLater · 23/07/2017 07:45

Ah, well if you like bunfights there's the NEW versions of Lancaster and Morecambe P&P. I believe they were set up after one of the old gunfights from someone who got kicked out and there's a lovely sense of seething resentment that pops up from time to time.

I'd draw the line at garstang as well. Grin

I have one who is young enough for soft play and one who has just reached the age where they'd not be seen dead in soft play. This means that over the summer hols, at least one is going to be disappointed.

Giggles is hell.on.earth to me. But then we were a bit spoilt with Settle playbarn when it still existed. I work in Lancaster but live rurally so I wouldn't officially qualify as part of the gang. Macari's stops at ours though and we're always at Williamson's or happy mount park. My daughter loved Treasure Island this year!!! The late finish proved a bit too much though.

GinFirstQuestionsLater · 23/07/2017 16:36

Giggles is hell, but its reasonably close, and compared to the Zone, it's 5* luxury.

It's so rural around here, if we didn't allow rural folk in the gang, it'd be empty. Working in Lancaster totally qualifies you, as does macaris Grin I'll stretch as far as Inglton and Bentham, anywhere in the trough of Bowland and up past milnthorpe 👍🏼

Maybe the entrance test is simple "pronounce Quernmore correctly."

I thought the zone was shut now??

I'm trying to work out where all these people are going to come from to fill all the new builds...

lancasterlass · 23/07/2017 21:54

The Zone is shut- at least temporarily.
How late does Treasure Island finish? We are thinking of taking our DC1 if we can get a babysitter for DC2 but DC1 is quite an early to bed child, though very into drama!

GinFirstQuestionsLater · 25/07/2017 18:40

The zone is shut for good, but it's memory lingers on.

The new builds will fill up with people who work at the uni and people commuting to Preston or Manchester.

I thought Treasure Island would have lasted for two hours but I fell asleep putting the boys to be (as you do) and woke up at half ten and they were not back. I totally panicked thinking they had crashed or something. She'd loved it though and strangely didn't struggle the next day so it was worth it.

lancasterlass · 20/08/2017 08:00

Just a quick one - does anyone use a local veg box scheme?

RandomMess · 20/08/2017 18:11

Sorry not me! Used one where we lived before so would be interested to know what you find out...

Lauralou69 · 21/08/2017 08:26

Another lancastrian here hello!! Williamsons park over Happymount any day!! Did you go to the carnival yesterday??

beltanelove · 03/09/2017 10:38

A bit late to the party but hello, I'm an la1 mum, with preschooler and unborn in tow. Studied here, moved away, came back! Williamson park for us as closest and my boy is disappointingly scared of the blummin splash park at happy mount 🤣

Love wallings but I've never finished an order. Giggles ok, holly farm great food, zone - what the actual it's full of metre high dust piles under equipment and brings on some disturbing/ deeply yearnful memories of clubbing.

We used to travel to meet friends at settle play barn, sad it's closed.

Whaletail lover. Also coffee at the halls when feeling trendy

beltanelove · 03/09/2017 10:40

Oh and did anyone go / is going to vintage by the sea in Morecambe this weekend. Was there yesterday, one of my favourite weekends around here i recommend!

newtlover · 03/09/2017 12:43

studied here, moved away, came back.....the witches's curse! You'll never leave!

RandomMess · 03/09/2017 13:26

One look at the rain today and not going anywhere!!!
Back to school tomorrow Sad

RandomMess · 01/10/2017 14:46

We can't even keep this thread going!

Had to go school shoe shopping today Angry think we may have to go to Preston next weekend

karigan · 01/10/2017 16:11

I am! waves Lived on the Freehold for 5 years and moved over the river into LA3 last summer to get a more 'toddler friendly' house.

Been here since 2009 and work locally as a teacher.

WinnerwinnerGinfordinner · 03/10/2017 12:20

Hello I'm a Local. Loved in one the rural villages, moved away for uni, came back to go to St Martins to train to be a teacher and then didn't bother to leave again! Currently over Heysham way. Off work I'll today but now craving a Wallings ice cream mmmmmmm

TazTheFairy · 04/10/2017 15:46

Blimey, last time I checked local there was just a tumble weed and a receipt for woolies pick n mix in here! I'm a HMP girl as it's round the corner, but did marry at the Ashton Memorial so have love for both parks. I agree about Wallings, it's good but seriously one cone can now do a family of 4! Is everyone using their normal mn name?

karigan · 04/10/2017 17:06

Yes. I'd have no hope with name-changing as I'm really forgetful.

Wallings is one of my favourite places - giant ice creams is most of the reason!

TazTheFairy · 04/10/2017 20:47

I'll probably slip up and use my normal one but my boss uses mn!

Wetoopere · 05/10/2017 01:16

Just waving hello across the bay.

Lancasterlass · 05/10/2017 08:17

I've got a special name, but at one point it was automatically changing your name.
I love seeing weddings in the AM!

TazTheFairy · 05/10/2017 08:50

lancasterlass ah I did have it in my head it would change for local but I'll just have to try and not slip up!
I still think it's a beautiful place to marry, funnily enough never been to a wedding there apart from ours over a decade ago.
Hello wetoopere, waving back as I can see across the bay from where I am.
