LocalEditorDurham&Newcastle · 10/07/2017 22:35

Message from County Durham Socialist Clothing Bank.

"If you need help with uniform for September, can you please either see us on the 18th July, at the clothing bank or email us. We will need to see some proof of benefits and you need to tell us the sizes you need. We will then buy you trousers or skirt, polo tops or shirts and jumper or cardigan.
Thus making sure that everyone gets what they need. These uniforms will be bought new. We will also have preloved.
Brandon Community Hall Brandon lane Brandon Durham DH7 8SH 12 NOON TILL 2PM on the 18th July. [email protected] "

What a great service. Are there any branches local to hartlepool and East durham?

LocalEditorDurham&Newcastle · 14/07/2017 14:31

Yes, it is a great service and the team have won awards for the work they do. Some fantastic volunteers who make it all happen.

There's only the one location - more info here www.facebook.com/Durhamsocialistclothingbank
It runs fortnightly throughout the year for pre-loved clothes and toiletries.

It's a shame the service isn't more county wide because you could buy a pack of polo shirts for the price of the bus fare to Brandon from somewhere like Shotton Colliery or Seaham (£7 for an adult day ticket, which is the cheapest option. Would have been the price of an explorer from parts of Seaham until Arriva re-routed the X21 to the seafront)
