Areas with a sense of community around Stroud

Hi, we were hoping to move to Stroud very soon but have had some disappointing news on a house so are back to square one with our search. We have waited so long for this house move and now have a 7 month old DD to take into consideration. I would really like to live somewhere that has a sense of community, by which I mean it has a few shops, amenities nearby and things to do like parks for families. Doesn't have to be much, just a few thingswithin walking distance. We are looking at Ebley and Kings Stanley which seem like they might have these things. Also possibly very close to town centre but not sure if this would be good for a family. Does anyone have any experience of these areas? Ot could recommend another village /area? Would be really grateful for some opinions.

Kings Stanley is nice. Although I wouldn't go to Ebley. Bisley is nice. France lynch. Chalford. Bussage.
Uplands but only local shop and coop at bottom of road. Rodborough lovely but no shops.
Nailsworth-although more of a town than an area.
PM me if you want anymore or ongoing advice
