Moving to area - any advice on West Hill nr Ottery and surrounding?

V new to this, so hope this is in the right place...

We're likely to move to the area in the next few months from Oxford (gulp) and have been looking for decent size village, not to far from Exeter, good schools etc etc.

Looks like West Hill village might fit the bill - any info on what it's like, what the community is like (good for families? welcoming?) would be very welcome!
Or other suggestions.

We have 5 and 2 year old sons so would also be helpful to hear any views on the primary school.

Hi, I work in Ottery but dont live there. Something to consider is the new housing estate Kings Reach that is under construction now. The primary and secondary schools in Ottery are both currently oversubscribed without the development being completed. Gp services, roads in and out of Ottery will be massively affected.

Obviously not what you wanted to hear but at the moment it is very much on locals minds as to how the town will cope with a huge influx on limited services.

Forgot to mention flooding. Very bad flooding in recent years 2OO8 and 2O12.

Whimple? Lovely village, welcoming community, good primary school, decent public transport (on the Exeter-Waterloo line), gorgeous countryside. Definitely worth a look!

Thanks for the suggestion! We have managed to get our son into west hill school but other son is going to nursery near nursery so could still be an option as will be looking to buy soon.
