Moving to Glasgow- help with West End Primary Schools/Pre-Schools

Hi there Glasgow Mums

We are a family of four hoping to make a move from London to Glasgow to be near our family and for some Scottish fresh air. Does anyone have experience of Kelvindale Primary? I was hoping for Hyndland as I had heard good things-but the flat we are buying is just out of the catchment- we are near the Botanic Gardens. Our nearest are Kelvindale and Notre Dame. My son is currently in year 2 and will be going into Primary 3 in August. We will also be looking for a pre-school for our three year old...

Any thoughts/insight very much appreciated

KC

Hi. I suppose the question is what you feel about secondary. Note Dame (which is fab) is girls only at Secondary level. Is your younger child a girl? Wld you mind them going to separate Secondary Schools? Notre Dame and Kelvindale are both good. Hillhead is a good Secondary, as is Cleveden, which Kelvindale feeds to.

On nurseries, Belhaven and Kelvin Park are the nearest Council and are excellent. Get your name down asap though as limited places.

Novar Nursery in Hyndland really good. It's a council nursery school so takes 3-4 year olds and you'd need to get your name down ASAP. And always worth putting in a placing request for Hyndland Primary School. If you do get a place at Hyndland then Fortrose Nursery is the nearest and is also a good nursery.
No personal experience of Kelvindale Primary but have only ever heard positive things about it.

Hi kcn19,
I was wondering how your move went, if you moved already. We are looking do to the same move over the summer with kids similar ages to yours. It would be great to hear about firsthand experience about your move, the schools that you decided to put your children in, etc.

TIA!
