Volunteers to assist with organising transport of breast milk donations

Severn Freewheelers provide a volunteer out-of-hours medical courier service to NHS facilities within Worcestershire and south Birmingham. Part of this service involves collecting breast milk from donors’ houses and taking it to the Milk Bank at the Women’s Hospital in Edgbaston, where it is used to support premature babies. We are looking for telephone operators who can take calls and pass them on to our couriers during our operating hours (7pm – 7am weekdays, all day at weekends) – level of commitment is up to you but think in terms of perhaps one night a month. We are happy to provide training and support; all you need is access to a phone and a computer. Oh and a map of the M5 corridor is a help!
If you are interested please mail to [email protected].

This is a tremendous service, I didn't know that the Blood Bike service was a charity or transported human milk. I'll be in touch
