Lesbian/Queer parents and NHS fertility treatment

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone out here has had experience of getting fertility treatment on the NHS as a lesbian/queer couple? My partner and I (finally) managed to get a referral to the fertility clinic a few months ago and are waiting on an appointment.

I'd love to talk to anyone who's been through the process so I know more what to expect in terms of questions, wait time, treatment etc. It's also further complicated by the fact that we'd like to use a friend's sperm, which I know is a barrier in Edinburgh NHS.

Any experiences and thoughts would be much appreciated. We don't know any other lesbian parents/want to be parents and are feeling a bit isolated!

Thanks
Kelly

Hi Kelly,
My partner and I have a wee boy, he's 9 months old. We conceived at a private clinic in Glasgow so don't have experience of NHS treatment but we would be happy to chat about our journey to becoming mums :)
Feel free to get in touch.

Katie
