About the author
Lizzie Brinkworth was born and has always lived in Wiltshire. One of three sisters, Lizzie was inspired by the stories told to her and her sisters, by their father, a Wiltshire farmer.
The stories he created, stayed with Lizzie and she had a desire to share the friendly characters with other children.
So Lizzie secretly wrote and illustrated her first Billy The Ball story, ‘Billy’s Big Bounce’ and surprised her dad, mum and sisters with a copy. Lizzie has since gone on to publish two more stories, ‘Billy The Ball and The Lost Pirate’ and ‘Billy The Ball Down On The farm’.
About the books
Billy the ball is joined by many ball friends, including: Freddie the football, Poppy the ping pong ball and Roger the rugby ball. Together, they go on adventures in Bounce Town.
In ‘Billy the ball’s Big Bounce’ Billy and Timmy the tennis ball decide to try and bounce as high as the clouds! They meet some very curious birds along the way.
‘Billy the ball Down on the farm’, sees Billy and friends invited to Farmer Jacks’ farm to help out.
In ‘Billy the ball and the Lost Pirate’, Billy and friends have to rush to the harbour to help a lost pirate find his missing ship and shipmates, before they sail off and leave him behind.
The storylines are simple, yet engaging and the illustrations are bright and friendly.
Pre-schoolers will love the friendly characters and colourful pictures and KS1 children will enjoy how the story unfolds and helping Billy to solve problems along the way. We hope you enjoy sharing these books with your children as much as we did!
