looking for venues for movie party in Cambridge?

Hi mums

We are thinking about movie party for my son's birthday. The idea seems quite appealing but can not find suitable venue so far. Picture house does not normally hire within afternoon hours, Cineworld did not reply to my request. Are there any other venues with small screening capacity (up to 15)? Has anybody done screening parties around Cambridge?

There isn't a Cineworld in Cambridge (it closed down in January) which is why they didn't reply I imagine.

It would be very expensive to hire a cinema for only 15 people. If it's not a current release, have you thought of showing a DVD in a village hall or similar with a screen and projector?

Another alternative, if you're prepared to travel, is No 77 in Caxton. They have an area they turn into a mini-cinema for kids on Sunday afternoons, so might do it mid-week for you if you ask? They have proper cinema seats and the staff are lovely. www.77cambridge.com/events/

Cineworld was taken over by the light so you need to contact them.

I agree hiring a cinema is a bit much for 15 people (unless it's a very small one, but apart from the Picturehouse I can't think of any).

Have you considered hiring a projector? You would just need a big blank wall. If you have a suitable room at home you would just need mattresses, bean bags, cushions etc. for the kids to sit on.

Wildwood in Ely does cinema style hire, not sure if the Wildwood in Cambridge does the same.

Was just going to suggest Wildwood in Ely! It looked great.
