Council consultation on the future of Breakfast Club provision in primary schools

Just want to make sure everyone is aware of this: www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=8750

GCC have opened up a consultation on the future of breakfast club provision in primary schools.

Even if you don't have a child currently at primary age, you might want to have a think about how this might affect you in future and have your say.

Likewise, if you don't currently use the breakfast club, maybe have a think about how it would affect you if you needed it in the future and it wasn't available.

And remember this isn't just about getting a cheap breakfast. For many this is about having Childcare from 0800. I personally don't understand why so few people use the service.

Last chance to have your say re: breakfast clubs in Glasgow primary schools. Consultation closes on Friday.

I am really concerned about this review- we totally rely on breakfast club to be able to get to work on time! Apparently the breakfast are being subsidised by over £3 per child pets day which means they must cost over £4 as we pay a pound each??? There are about 60 kids eating toast and drinking juice out of a carton with two staff! Here's hoping they will keep breakfast clubs going and won't put the price up????

I think the council preference is to keep them going but to put the price up. It's still cheaper than private child care - even if you could get someone to do just an hour. Plus people on FSMs would get it free. Ironically, they're the ones who use it least - it's those in jobs who use it as cheap child care (as I did when ds was in primary school).
