think within a mile of these stations - I would love pro's and con's of each really...

Beck junction because there are other stations as well with different travel options.

Pros of Bromley South are the fast trains to Victoria. Beckenham you have the gorgeous Kelsey Park, more travel options and good schools (Balgowan for primary and Langley Park for secondary) both have no defined borders so merge into neighbouring areas. If I can be annoying and put in a good word for Petts Wood: lots more destinations for trains, lovely community, great primary schools, lovely open spaces and woods.

I like petts wood too but what are the school choices at primary? St James is a no unless you're a rich catholic living on the doorstep and Crofton? Not sure about south borough school?

Crofton is a popular school. I live five minutes walk away and most of my friends children have been very happy there. Challenge is at secondary where unless grammar or independent the choices are less ideal. The Orpington end of Petts Wood can be close enough to popular and Ofsted outstanding Darrick Wood, there are also good transport links to kent and bexley grammars if DC doesn't make it into the hugely oversubscribed Newstead or St Olaves. Good Independents nearby too. There is a great sense of community spirit, so much more choice for train travel and family events throughout the year. Pop along to the memorial hall on the corner of Petts Wood Road and Woodland Way on May Day and experience the May Fayre to get a flavour of the locals and the lovely vibe the area has.

Agree about petts wood can't convince DH though

if people hadn't guessed by now I am Petts Wood mad! My DH jokes that if the area were a company I'd sound like I was a major shareholder or something similar! I just know it is a privilege to live in such a lovely place and want others to feel as blessed as I do. Saying that, if looking to move I would always say it is important to look at your support networks like family and friends. No area can compete with a grandma to help out and friends nearby to listen to your woes over a glass of vino.

I have to say Bromley South is a winner and I would recomend it all day long! Super fast trains to Victoria as well as trains to Farringdon! So both sides covered!
