OLD FIRE STATION SEEKS MOTHER AND DAUGHTER FOR PLAY
The Old Fire Station is looking for a locally-based mother and daughter (aged over 18) to take part in a production on Tuesday 28 April: Gods Are Fallen And All Safety Gone.
In an intimate and funny exploration of mother and daughter relationships, two highly skilled male actors explore the fascinating relationship dynamic of a thirty-something daughter and her ageing mother. The honest, frank and familiar exchanges between mother and daughter range from the everyday: tea, travel, boyfriends and more tea; to the truth of their seemingly tense relationship.
Alexandra Coke, Marketing Manager at the Old Fire Station, said: As the fictional mother and daughter are played by men, the company would like an actual mother and daughter to be present onstage, sitting apart from the action. As they watch the play, their interactions, however small, will add another element to the show. No acting experience is necessary, just an interest in trying something new.
The title of the production is taken from John Steinbecks novel East of Eden and it is about the moment when we realise that our parents are flawed human beings, and that at some point, probably sooner than we think, they are suddenly going to disappear from our lives.
Any mothers and daughters interested in taking part should e-mail [email protected] or ring Alex on 01865 263988 to find out more.

About Greyscale Theatre Company
Greyscale is a Newcastle based international theatre company formed by a group of established directors, writers, actors, and designers interested in exploring the fringes and gaps in-between the ways we work. They aim to make carefully structured, powerfully live, political and anarchic theatre for a modern audience bored of being bored.
Greyscale think that the audience shouldnt get to sit in the dark snoozing, that you should enjoy their shows more than they do and that to get something out, you have to put something in.
