Hello,
My family and I (husband & son who is 4 in April & starts school this September) are looking to move closer to family in the St.Ives/Needingworth area. We have done some research into certain villages/schools etc and have visited them over past few months. However, I would like to ask local Mums opinions on these villages in terms of the local schools, facilities etc. Is anyone able to help?
Our top three villages include Haddenham, Swavesey and Over? But we are open to other suggestions. We would like good transport links (buses if possible), good schools, local amenities - shops, post office etc, and be within a 20 min car journey to Needingworth/St Ives. Our budget is not massive (between £280k-270k) - which I know doesn't buy you a great deal in this area, but we remain hopeful! Thank you for your help!

I haven't got primary aged children, so may be wrong, but don't you have to have applied for a primary place by now? In which case, wouldn't you need to focus on somewhere where the primary school is unlikely to be full if you are going to do a late application?

Another option is Cambourne, where you should be able to get a house for your budget, and which has more amenities and options than Swavesey or Over (don't know much about Haddenham). 20 minute drive to St Ives, buses every 20 minutes to Cambridge, and really family friendly. I don't live there but know loads of people who do, and they all love it.

Good luck with the move!
