Have to visit High Wycombe next weekend-advise from anyone who knows the area

Sneaking in to the local site from Oop Norf! I am visiting High Wycombe next weekend-travelling down Friday night, then back home either Sat or Sun. Just wondering whether to take public transport or drive down-is it easy enough to get around by car or a bit congested? Have to get somewhere pretty early Sat morning so don't want to cook it up by either get stuck in traffic or getting stuck on buses! Also any local tips for a decent overnight place to stop-wondering if we can avoid the Premier Inns/Holiday Inn etc and use somewhere "local". Is going to be a slightly stressful appointment so want to try and make everything else go as smoothly as possible for me and my youngest. Thanks!

It's pretty easy to get around by car so might be best, not sure exactly where HP12 is... Sorry.

There are a couple of hotels in the town centre but I think they are both of the variety you want to avoid... Quite a few B&Bs about although can't vouch for what they are like...

There is a Holiday Inn just off the M40 J4 - HP11 1TL (handy cross) easy for the motorway and central High Wycombe. HP12 is the Chapel Lane area. From the hotel follow the signs to Aylesbury. Takes you straight into the HP12 area. Traffic on that route on a Sat or Sun should not be too bad. Just the normal rush to ASDA or John Lewis on the 1st half mile or so.

If you don't want Holiday Inn or Travel lodge or premier Inn then there is a crown plaza in Marlow about 2 miles from Handy Cross. But for where you are going then the Holiday Inn is the best placed location for getting to from the motorway and for the hotel into High Wycombe.
