Thinking of moving to Hersham/Walton area

Hi, I'm 31, been married a year and we're expecting our first child in May 2015!! I've lived in Kingston all of my life and have always loved it. However, we can no longer afford to live here as we'd like a bigger house. I've spent all afternoon looking at houses around the Hersham/Walton area and there are some wonderful properties.
Could anyone fill me in on things like; things to do with young children, local primary/secondary school, general things to do, eating out, shopping, that sort of thing. Would be great to hear from mums who have made this move themselves or live locally. Thanks!

Hi Emma,

We've moved to Hersham from Kingston just 6 months ago :) It's great area for families with small children (mine are 1 and 3 year old), plenty of local playgroups etc. Hersham has a lovely playground, this year they should be building a splash park which will be fantastic for the summer. Local schools are good too, and there are plenty of things to do/see with children.
I still miss the buzz of Kingston sometimes, but bigger house and garden certainly make up for it. On another note - it's very easy to commute, the train from Walton to Waterloo is about as fast as the one from Kingston (it's another line that goes via Surbiton), which again made this decision easier for us. If you have any other questions - let me know :)

Hi

I have just read this post and thought I would reply as I have posted a similar message today about moving to the area. What are the schools like? And are there any areas to definitely avoid?

Would really appreciate some advice!

Thank you
