Please recommend me a good (but not exorbitantly priced) hairdressing salon locally!

Have a formal family event to attend this Christmas and want to ensure that I get my hair coloured (new for me) and cut really well, but without spending a fortune (whatever that is). Can any of you guide me?

Can travel locally and beyond borough borders, if that helps. Guessing that we won't be looking at Wimbledon Village...

JFM just next to TK Maxx. Jane, who runs it, is lovely and does a good job.

Danielle at Vanity hair and beauty at merton abbey mills is excellent. If you follow their FB page they do great deals. I had an amazing cut and blow dry for about £30.

Thanks for the recommendations, although I now think, with it being December already, that I've left it too late to get a haircut/blow dry for a decent amount .
