Early years funding in Cambridge independent schools?

Does anyone know which Cambridge independent pre-prep schools allow the free 15 hours early years funding? I have a summer born child, so would get the funding for almost the full first year.

I thought this only applied to pre-schools, not once they start school, so not in pre prep? If you have a young child I think it's just bad luck! :(

Millington Road is a private pre school (as are various others) so I imagine they take the funded hours, but I would think pre prep schools are a different matter.

Do you mean a nursery at a pre prep? I imagine you would have to contact individual schools & ask but there are some very good nurseries in Cambridge that arnt attached to private schools like Brunswick.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. My understanding is that they get 15 funded hours until the term they turn five. My child will be just 4 when starting reception, so should continue to receive funding that year. A friend told me you can use that in some pre-preps and it is deducted from the fees.

I've heard that too but am unaware of which if any in Cambridge do. Might be worth calling individual nurseries & asking.

However if you are thinking of reception year (the school year they turn 5) I imagine not as they would be eligible to be at state school. However there may be nurseries (term after 3 to that point) that may.

Ok so actually I spoke to a friend yesterday who thinks you are right and that you can use their 15 hours (and child care vouchers) against fees in reception at some pre-preps.

She said St Faiths do this. Not sure about others.

Thanks everyone. I guess it's a case of ringing round and asking then.
