... with cake? Cake

After a lovely meet-up in July and quite a few people saying they'd like to come another time, it seems time to arrange that other time.

How does Thursday 18th September sound to anyone?

LocalEditorNottingham · 12/07/2015 10:20

Yes, Broad Street.

Time - maybe 7.30pm in the Mezz Bar (upstairs)?

Sounds good. How do we recognise each other?

LocalEditorNottingham · 14/07/2015 11:15

I'll come up with a good answer to that very soon (hmm, which clothes are clean...) Grin

Anyone else joining us? Would be lovely if you could Smile Wine

How about I bring one of dd's small soft toys and place it on the table? That's probably easier than peering at everyone's outfits. (Dd will be ok with this, there are many soft toys Grin ).

I think I should mention at this point that I haven't been well for the last few days, started some antibiotics yesterday and have great hope and expectation that they're going to kick in fully and make me feel much better by tomorrow evening, so all just fine and normal for Thursday. There is a chance things won't run so smoothly though. So, would my giving a definite yes/no to going ahead, tomorrow evening, be ok?

I don't like being so unreliable at all, sorry. It just seems better to raise the point now.

I'd much rather be drinking Wine and eating Cake (not sure Broadway have much cake but there are puddings if required Smile ).

A soft toy is a good idea. Yes sure let us know if you're not well. I wait to hear from you this eve for final confirmation. It'd be useful to know if somebody else is joining us. Thanks Roberta

QueenOfNottingham · 15/07/2015 16:05

Hello again! I'm happy to come to the daytime meeting and I'm free any afternoon :)

LocalEditorNottingham · 15/07/2015 19:32

Ok, all things considered, would a postponement to next Thursday evening, 23rd July, be a good idea?

I am feeling a lot better but not fully fit. Perhaps with a week and a bit of nudging, one or two of the earlier posters who'd sounded possible for an evening might return and join in too, which would be lovely Smile

What do you think?

OP posts:
LocalEditorNottingham · 15/07/2015 19:36

...and hello again QOM! Smile We will definitely set a daytime date soon.

In fact why don't I get that ball rolling again by suggesting the afternoon of Thursday 6th August?

OP posts:
Robbie75 · 16/07/2015 09:21

I'm happy that you're feeling better. Unfortunately I cant do next Thursday as its my partner's turn to go out. I can do 6th August in the afternoon at around 2.30 ish

LocalEditorNottingham · 16/07/2015 11:00

Ok, let's go for the 6th August.

Is there an evening date that would suit you Robbie75 ? We might as well start with one someone can definitely do. Or, we can focus on the 6th Aug and go from there?

Thanks for your energy in pushing this along and I am sorry about tonight. A head (and thermometer) over heart decision.

OP posts:
Robbie75 · 16/07/2015 11:14

No worries. Let's stick to the 6th August in the afternoon so that QueenofNottingham can join too and we'll take it from there. See you soon. Take care Roberta

QueenOfNottingham · 16/07/2015 14:06

Ooh exciting, so still a picnic at the arboretum? Fingers crossed for sunshine.

LocalEditorNottingham · 16/07/2015 17:14

Yes, let's say 2.30pm on Thursday 6th August at The Arboretum (wet weather plan will be formed). Picnic as desired. I shall bring some kind of Cake

I've updated the 'Meet-ups' page, will PM the people in the meet-up group and am putting it the newsletter, which goes out later today.

So, an actual, definite date! Smile

Hi All,

I'm hoping the BBC have got the weather wrong - and it could easily change by Thursday - but, just in case, I think a wet weather plan is needed.

I'd like to suggest Nottingham Contemporary, NG1 2GB. They have free drop-in workshops for children 11am - 3pm and a spacious cafe with cake. Also lots of highchairs and good changing facilities. The cafe and 'The Space' where the workshops take place are both at the basement level - there's a lift.

If it's bucketing down on Thursday, shall we meet there instead? It's easy to get to, a short walk from the Market Square or the train station, or a tram ride to the 'Lace Market' stop (and the tram helpfully links The Arboretum at Waverley Street - the 'High School' stop - with Contemporary at Weekday Cross - 'Lace Market' stop - in case of indecision).

It had to be the only rainy day of the week! I'll update you as we don't have a pram, it broke and awaiting replacement which hasn't turned up. If it does before tomorrow I'll be able to join you. The idea of the Nottingham contemporary is great though. Take care

Robbie75 · 05/08/2015 19:12

Regrettably I won't be able to come tomorrow. Our pram didn't turn up today so I'm hoping it will tomorrow. Sorry ladies to let you down. Let me know when you meet again. Take care x

LocalEditorNottingham · 05/08/2015 19:50

Oh no, sorry to hear that Robbie75.

The weather forecast is looking a lot better - no rain and 20c in the afternoon. Let's stick with plan a - Arboretum by the bandstand at 2.30pm unless it's raining seriously by 2pm, in which case Nottingham Contemporary cafe.

I will be wearing mostly navy blue, carrying a small soft toy and will not have a child with me. (Shoulder-length brown hair, glasses).

Looking forward to seeing those who can make it for a chat and some Cake Smile
