Anyone free for a glass of wine?

Smile I've lived here for a couple of years and don't know too many people. I do work a lot but can spare a little time for a meet up, if anyone's interested? I'm only free during the daytime though Sad

Hello LadyMayLikesCake I'm around during the week, including occasionally without the toddler (that's a different sort of meet up entirely!).

Anywhere in mind? Anyone else?

LadyMaryLikesCake · 20/06/2014 22:48

Hello Smile How about the city centre?Nice and... in the middle Grin I've no idea where, somewhere which sells wine and cake? Ds is 15 so will be at school.

Ok, well, places that sell wine and cake during the day, that I know and like include: Alley Cafe (cosy, relaxed), Broadway Cinema (more spacious, not sure about breadth of cake choice), Cast at The Playhouse (likewise), Edins (over the road from Broadway, nice atmosphere, probably good cake). Lee Rosy's next door does lots of cake but no wine... Will think further.

Thursdays are usually best for me, some of them. Any good?

Thanks for suggesting this Smile

(Was it only me who wishfully read the title as 'anyone for a free glass of wine...' at first glance?)

LadyMaryLikesCake · 24/06/2014 22:25

Cozy and relaxed sounds fab. I can do Thursdays, not for a couple of weeks though (darn work!).

I don't know where the Broadway cinema is Blush I know where Home Made is, it's not really cosy though, more cramped but with fab cakes and wine.

You're welcome (going out during the day for wine cake is on my list of things to do more of) Grin

As far as dates go, I think I could do Thurs 3rd or 17th July - and probably lots of other Thursdays, just not sure which ones yet. Cake

Wrappler · 28/06/2014 10:48

Hi there - I'm local too - I'm free on the 17th of July - can't make the 3rd because my little one is having her tonsils out on the 1st and I have to be on nursing duties for 2 weeks! A good place to meet up might be home made - either in town or in the Forest Rec next to the playground. This place looks tempting too :D www.thewalkcafe.co.uk/eat.html - I've never been there though.

Wrappler · 28/06/2014 10:50

oh Edins is lovely too!

LadyMaryLikesCake · 28/06/2014 11:22

I'm working on the 3rd and we're in London on the 17th Sad

I'm free on the 7th, the 24th and 25th and the 31st, so not a lot Sad.

I hope your dd's op goes well, Wrappler. Children tend to get up and about really quickly after having their tonsils out Smile

Either 24th or 31st could work for me - not certain which but should know very soon.

The Walk does look good, I've never been. I agree with Edins as probably the most suitable of the others mentioned. edinsnottingham.co.uk/ (They appear to have expanded too.)

Also, it's opposite the Broadway, so you'll find out where that is LadyMary! (Carry on up the hill past Home Made, over the brow then turn left into Broad St).

LadyMaryLikesCake · 28/06/2014 13:21

Smile Thank you, I'll have a look.

It's my aim to work a little less so I should have more spare time Blush

It appears I could do the 31st but not the 24th.

LadyMaryLikesCake · 19/07/2014 20:15

31st? Wine Smile

Anyone else interested in coming along? Cake

Have a lovely time away Smile

at Edin's? Cake Wine

icklekid · 29/07/2014 14:19

Is there a final date/location confirmed? Hoping I might be able to pop and join you- I have a 3 week old though would that be ok?

LocalEditorNottingham · 29/07/2014 14:35

Hi icklekid and everyone, I think the answer is; this Thursday 31st July at Edin's, Broad St.

Not sure about time but maybe 12 noon - I think LadyMaryLikesCake has to get away by mid-afternoon - but I'll let her confirm.

My guess is that Edin's won't have great changing facilities (more of a single, cramped cubicle kind of place) but, Broadway cinema, straight over the road, will have - they host a whole screen-room full of babies sometimes!

LadyMaryLikesCake · 29/07/2014 22:35

Oh, you fell off my actives page! Shock

I can get there for 11:30 (ish) but I have to find you first Blush

So, carry on past Home made and left onto Broad Street... Cake

I have to rush off though, I'm sorry. It's holiday season at work and they have no staff by the looks of it.

MrsBungle · 29/07/2014 22:38

I'm on holiday on the 31st (currently enjoying cornwall :) but I'd love to join you some other time.
