Could a new swimming pool for Worcester be on the cards finally?

So it seems that the MP for Worcester is pushing the new council to consider a swimming pool Worcester News.

To be honest I think Worcester is in desparate need for some new swimming facilities. I can't believe that a city of our size, with a growing University which specialises in sport has the options of crumbling Sansome Walk or Lower Wick. Both these pools were not particularly modern or salubrious when I was at primary school (which was way over 20 years ago). Splash at Malvern is also tired around the edges, as is Forest Glades in Kidderminster which is also closing this summer.

Redditch does now have a lovely new facility in Abbey Stadium, but Redditch isn't exactly handy if you live in the central/west parts of the county.

Am I alone in being a bit pissed off with the lack of a decent swimming pool and hoping that this comes off this time?!

The swimming pools in Worcester really are pretty shameful. My DS is nearly 10 and he loves swimming but we have to travel to Redditch (!!!) or Solihull to find a decent pool.

If Worcester wants to keep up the other major towns and cities of the midlands it will have to keep investing in stuff like this or it'll just get left behind and become Bromsgrove with a cathedral.
