Suggestions on where to live in the area as a single commuter

I am looking for an affordable but nice part of outer London to buy in that is an ok commute into the City. Previously lived in SW London and loved being by the water, the parks and more neighbourhood/less dense feel but cannot afford by buy there. A friend of a friend suggested Beckenham but I am not familiar with the area at all.
Budget is up to £300k. What is Beckhenham like? Any suggestions on where (a variety of train stations come up when I do a property search)?

Thanks

New Beckenham is good. Or beck junction. What are you after? A flat? There are a lot of flats on copers cope road which is good for both stations plus walking distance into town.

Hi, ideally a 2 bed house, or garden flat. What areas are good, and which ones to avoid (Norwood Junction etc come up when I do a property search). I want to be somewhere that doesn't feel too built up/congested.
Thanks

Try putting in the post code stations you want instead - otherwise you get places like norwood junction.

So Beckenham junction is in the centre of Beckenham with trains to Victoria. It is about 10 mins walk to clockhouse or new Beckenham which has trains to London bridge/Charing cross.

Nice places:

If you focus your search with new Beckenham station north and clock house station south, Kent house west and beck junction east that gives you a rough idea of the nice parts. I would recommend uou have a walk around.
