Venues that are not child friendly - Pollok House and restaurant

Avoid this place. I took my 2 girls (4 and half and 2 and a half) there today for lunch. They were very good and ate their soup (carrot and coriander no less!) without a fuss. The waiter came over as I was finishing my drink to say another customer (2 elderly ladies who had just left) had complained about the noise levels. I was so insulted. For one, they were well behaved and were singing quite happily once they had finished eating - not screeching, but playful and happy. I was livid as he had clearly taken their side giving me the strong message that they were in the right. I paid and promptly left telling them I wouldn't return. I've since read a few more reviews where parents have been told they can't bring their prams with newborns in the restaurant - clearly too small for highchairs. You are better off going to the Burrell Cafe in this park - far more reasonably priced and the staf are very welcoming and understand families.
Are there any others to avoid in Glasgow????

Thanks..will be sure to avoid Shock
I haven't had any really bad experiences in Glasgow. Have had a few dirty looks from members of the public if my wee one (2 and half) is being vocal or decides to throw something. Sometimes wonder if some people just totally forget what it's like to have a toddler who is asserting their independence..

Maybe we should all sit in silence when we eat our meals! I can say in all honesty that there are times when my colleagues & I dine out for lunch & we make more noise than an entire nursery class & we have never been told that we're too loud Blush
Sorry that you had a bad experience and thanks for letting us know as I'd rather spend my hard earned money in a child friendly environment that welcomes families rather than speaking down to them Thanks

Bella Napoli in Southside is not family friendly either..

I think Bella Napoli is great but have to agree that the Pollok House restaurant is totally crap.

Service terrible. We arrived when the kitchen was shutting 20 mins later, they messed about. Reluctantly agreed to coffees but refused to make a two year old anything.

We suggested a cheese sandwich - too much trouble. Haven't been back - sent a letter of complaint - no response.

Very poor show IMO.

Another vote for the burrell cafe -staff are very friendly , there is plenty space for buggies and they have high chairs

While I agree that's there is no room for prams in the pollock house I have been with my kids loads with no bother in fact when dd1 was a baby the middle aged waiter took her off me so that I could eat, he just directed people to their seats with her in his arms.

I was very grateful. and I do find old ladies very noisy as well Wink
