Hi,
I am a new parent about to start working in Norwich. Hubby is working in Ipswich.we are looking for someplace to live where it would be easy to commute and find a nanny??Looked around Norwich but nothing suitable to rent. Thinking about Diss. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi there and welcome to the area. You are correct that Diss is slap bang in the middle. The A140 is not too bad as roads go but gets busy at rush hours. Don't know about nannys but plenty of great nurseries around. Diss is lovely and have great shops apart from clothing but Norwich is so close. I would live in Diss if I could afford to move. Are you buying or renting?

Planning to rent. Baby just 5 months so feel a unsure as both of us would be a good 40 mts away from baby in the day!

Perhaps you could choose a nursery close to one og your works so at least one of you will be close to baby?
Or you could agree for one of you to live close to work and the other does most of the commuting? There are lots of nice little villages just south of Norwich. Don't know about Ipswich, sorry.

Good luck :-)

You'll share the childcare more if in Diss & no stress listening to whingy baby on the commute.

...it's kinder to baby to not have to do all that commuting with you.

Bury St Edmunds is another possibility- great schools and Nurseries (with a new 60 place nursery opening in the next few months), great parent community and a short hop along the A14 to Ipswich and a not too bad commute to Norwich.

Bungay and Beccles are also lovely.

Thanks all for responses. For now we have rented in Norwich and Husband would do most of the commute. Now actively looking for a nanny!
Any recommendations?
