How to find the company to my 13 yrs old son?

Hello, we just moved in to Croydon. My son is very lonely here. I wonder how can I meet other mums with boys in such age? He loves Chelsea. His new passion is art. We spend each weekend showing him London, arts, museums, history as we are both art historians but I can see that he would change it ( at least sometimes:)for a good time with same age boy.

Scouts, air cadets, football training - any of those?

How about going to Croydon Library or your local library and enquiring about any clubs they have details of? Or you could google clubs in the local area. Is there anyone from school that you could invite over?

Yes, I was thinking about inviting people home from school but perhaps he is too shy to ask. I also put this on the Facebook page and had the following response:

'Definitely look at RSPB and Wildlife Trust events- they do den building and activity days out where he'll meet others. If he is not so keen on those activities, try computer clubs, football junior supporters etc'

Emmanuel Church in Normanton Road South Croydon has a large and friendly youth club on Friday nights from 8-10pm suitable for 11-16 year olds. My ds and a friend just turned up one night and it has become their favourite place to hang out. I think there may be a Monday night meeting there as well. They usually have 5 or 6 different things going on in different places round the halls (craft, football, table tennis, a movie etc). Plenty of leaders.

Hi RussellMum - has your son been able to make some friends now?
