With kids who can ride a bike but aren't brilliant at it. Pref free of cars and dog poo! Can drive to anywhere so don't mind whereabouts in Bristol or on outskirts. Thanks for any help.

How about the Bristol to Bath cycle path? It's along an old railway line so flat and traffic free. It's possible to do the whole thing there and back in a day but as it's not a circular route you can turn round and go back at any point if you're running out of time or energy.

You can do the cycle path from the Cumberland Basin out to Pill, under the Suspension Bridge and past Leigh Woods.

Also, in Leigh Woods there is a mountain bike trail if you have mountain bikes. My 6 year old can do the trail, he is quite good on a bike though. When he was 3 he used to go around the bigger steps and such like. It is fun though! If they can't do the trail, you can cycle the walks.
