hello mums! I m new to this forum and I need your help! I live in edinburgh (colinton), but in few days i m going to move to Fettes village in a beautiful flat with my husband and daughter.
I m not from Edinburgh so I don t know very well all the areas, but some people told me that Pilton, Granton are a bit dangerous, so do you think it will be safe moving there? is it better to avoid it or it is ok living in Fettes? What about the buses? Is it safe travel by bus even in the evening? Sorry if i m bit worried but i really need some advice, thanks in advance, I m looking forward to hearing from you!

Buses are absolutely fine in the evening, and I can't imagine you'd be travelling through Granton and Pilton much? TBH, I wouldn't recommend living in either Granton or Pilton but you're not looking at living in these areas, just adjacent to them. I would have thought your route to town would be via the 24, 37 or 19 ( could be totally wrong?!) and within seconds you'd be past the Western and at Stockbridge/ West End.

In a similar vein, my sister has a beautiful flat at one end of a dodgy street in Leith. Because everything she goes to, town, work, nights out etc, is in one direction- the dodgy street has never been an issue. I think the nature of Edinburgh is such that you're never that far from a less desirable area, I wouldn't think too much of it.

There is actually some really nice areas of both pilton and granton (and some awful) as poster above says in edinburgh the nice and less desirable areas can be pretty close and as long as your flat block/ street is nice you probably won't be affected too much by what around it

Also my experience of busses at nightmare absolutely fine, even from my parents where the bus passes through muirhouse! Never had a problem
