Hi,

My DH and I have just moved to New Barnet because we (or I!) thought it would be a lovely place to raise our baby. My mum said we will be bored senseless as the entire population is retired and we'll struggle to meet young(ish) parents like ourselves.

Can somebody please tell me she is wrong about this? I'm hoping there will be lots for me and baby to do and lots of nice parks and family friendly places to go/eat?

Don't really know much about the area to be honest but wanted to feel out of the chaos of inner London and go somewhere hubby could easily commute to work in Muswell Hill. Hope we made the right choice?!

Hi

Have a look at NURTURING MUMS, we run sociable and fun postnatal course for new mums - next one starts in East Finchley on 29 April. Hope to see you there!

Welcome! You'll meet loads of mums at the childrens' centre groups. I go to St Margarets and love it (Mondays is First Friends £free 1:15-2:24, Tuesdays baby rhyme time £free 1:15-2:15). The youngest baby I've seen at a group there was four days old!

Hi,

I live in Barnet and am also due in June. Would be lovely to meet up for tea/cake and a chat. Just about to start maternity leave and also don't know many Mums to be in the area so it would be good to have a bump buddy for walks or just someone to go to Starbucks with! Let me know and we can arrange. xx

HI. I run Baby Sensory Classes in the area. We have sensory activities, then a break fro babies and a chance for you to meet new mums in the play area and then we meet again to do some sensory experiences. I used to take mine to these classes and found I gained so much from it at a time I was shattered and it helped me bond with other mums and my baby too. Although I am answering as I run them from a personal perspective I feel you have so much to gain from coming - I run a free trial too so you are not obliged to join after. Email me if you are interested and want a chat: [email protected]
