Hey everyone. Is it me or is finding nursery provision in St Johns a flipping nightmare?! There seems to be a choice of about 4 childminders (and I don't really want a childminder anyway), Unitots (loooonnnnggg waiting list), one on Bromyard Road which has a not very good Ofsted report or a chain nursery near Bransford Road.

Is that seriously it?!

I reported hawthorn cottage ( on Bransford road) for being so bad. I found out there are several ongoing complaints too.

Harry was in Victoria House on the Bromyard road but I had issues with their lunch system which you had to pay for even if your child doesn't eat it. Plus when I moved them they had said ds was awkward and didn't join in which isn't the case.

Dd and ds are in magic moments on tudor way and I am suprised how different it all is, they have an outstanding ofsted. Both dc are trying more foods etc, and doing lots more activities. I highly recommend them.

Are you in st johns now LE?

Thanks for the recommendation - will be in the area by the summer as we're hopefully buying a house in Martley. I'm also going to look at Little GroBags in Bransford, which looks much more like the setting DS is used to but I'll also look at Magic Moments :)

Nearer your mom then, lucky girl.

Its a mare finding a nursery I viewed lots. I had little growbags on my list but I found magic moments first. Its on my doorstep which helps too.

Good luck in your search.

My son was at Poppins (just off Bromwich Rd) from 9m to school. I can't recommend it highly enough. Wonderful staff with low turnover, lots of outside space and a lovely homely environment.

i looked at Poppins and it seemed lovely, just a bit too pricey fro me.

how did you get on at little grow bags

WorcsCountryMouse · 19/03/2014 14:21

If you are going to be in Martley, have you considered going in the other direction and looking at Clifton nursery? I would highly recommend it (and flexible and affordable as it is community owned and not for profit)

I liked Little Growbags, and I also visited Poppins yesterday which was also really nice. I think Growbags will probably win as it's slightly handier, although I haven't been to Magic Moments yet either.

WorcsCountryMouse I have heard great things about Clifton, but it will just add too much unnecessary time on to our commutes :(

Fair enough - if it means starting out in the wrong direction, then I can see that would be a PITA. Shame, though, as it is a lovely place that I am so glad DD went to - she still likes to go back to their holiday club, and one of the carers babysits for us sometimes.

Why not try the nursery at RGS Springfield just across the river - our DS loved it!
