Happy New Year!

This is the all new Cafe Blethers - a chat thread for parents in Dundee and Angus. Don't be shy - jump in and have a chat with us.

I am the Local Ed for Dundee and Angus and will be putting the kettle on, warming the scones in the wood burner, and occasionally opening a bottle of Wine

When you log onto MN Local, you can choose a new posting name to keep your usual MNetting name a secret. That way you can meet people in the local area without giving away any of the info that you share on the main boards.

Oh here you are! I only ever go to my Threads I'm On!

Happy New Year!

LEDundeeAngus · 14/01/2014 17:03

I wondered if that was why you hadn't been back. Hence posting a link on the old thread.

Happy New Year! How are you doing?

Any news on the house hunting?

Helloo! I posted a couple of times before but then forgot all about it. Must try harder DS woke every hour last night ,so tired!

LEDundeeAngus · 14/01/2014 23:07

Hello Hamnvick. Waking every hour? That's not much fun. New baby or poorly child?

I've just finished a call with colleague in NZ and am off to bed. Feels weird that she's off to have lunch!

Yeah, am trying to be online less this year, so only on a couple of Mn threads, limited Fb. But always nice to check in here.
Our sale has not completed, so we are still in limbo. I am surprised at how little has come up for sale here though, I thought there would be a little flurry in January, but there has not been.

I am really well, thanks. Though DS is just recovering from chicken pox, so we have been housebound the last week.
How are you?

Hello, H. Hope your son sleeps better tonight!

Pehsandbridies · 15/01/2014 15:27

Hello!

I want a wood burner, but we live in a smoke exclusion zone :( [eats scones]

I've been looking at houses too, as we have outgrown our wee first house. However we want to stay in the catchment for the school and its either tiny wee places like ours of huge gorgeous victorian villas that are way out of our price range. A bit of waste ground has planning permission but they have applied for another 3 year extension so doesnt look like they will be building the houses anytime soon :(

LEDundeeAngus · 15/01/2014 16:51

Oh, poor LittleLentil. Chickenpox is horrid. I hope he didn't suffer too much.

I thought more would come on the market in January too. It seems very slow at the moment. We are waiting to see if our neighbour sells. His wife died before Xmas, after a long illness, and now he is alone in a 4 bedroom house. His kids are all grown up and live in the area, so the house is really huge for him alone. No idea if he will want to move though. Could be payback for the weeks of renovations that we put the neighbours through, if he sells and the house is renovated.

Don't you get woodburners that comply with regulations? I haven't looked into it properly yet, but one of the houses across the road has a chimney, so I assume we will be ok. We'd like to put one in before the next winter.

If you have all been following our FB and Twitter accounts, you will know that it is Wedding Week. We will be doing a different focus each week - next week is libraries, so if you have anything interesting to share, do let me know.

Hi, P. Tricky situation for you. I hope something works out soon so you can relax about schools.

LittleLentil has been amazing. He had a short and only minor fever for a night, the rest of the time he has been his usual self. He's only scratched one spot which sadly is deep and on his beautiful little face, am hopeful it won't scar though. He's been a little champion. Got him some extra LEGO and chocolate buttons for being stuck at home, he's been very good.

Yeh, was very surprised how few houses have come on the market.

I commented on the wedding thread. :)
Arthurstone Library is shut til Easter-ish, they are doing renovations.

Hamnvik · 17/01/2014 11:31

He is 9 months and a terrible sleeper so not a new thing sadly!
We are looking to move too although just renting, having just moved back from Edinburgh I'm amazed at how rubbish the housing market it is here.
Where about do you all live?
I got an email this morning about a meet up but sadly I can't get to Tayport that day, maybe next time!

LentilAsAnything · 17/01/2014 13:06

H, this too will pass!

I have been surprised by how little is coming to market. And what there is, seems to stay unsold for a long time. Properties that we saw online five months ago are still for sale.

We are pretty central Dundee, and hope to remain central when we move.

The Tayport meetup is a little early for us too, I struggle to get DS out at that time.

LEDundeeAngus · 20/01/2014 08:34

Lentil
you can come later. We will be there a while. I wanted to get in early to bags a table, cause Kitschnbake is always packed.

Thought next meetup we could do in the Dundee Central Library. There is a coffee shop there (although I haven't been for years). Would be good for those new to the area to discover the library.

Sympathies, Hamvik. I was soooo smug with DD, cause she slept so well. Then DS came along and I realised it wasn't my superior parenting, but sheer luck!

I am waiting for the heating engineer to come out cause our heating isn't working. Poor Dh had a cold shower this morning.

Sorry not been on much. Just been busy in RL.
Where is everyone!

Hamnvik · 03/02/2014 12:50

Hello! Yes I would be interested in a central meet up, I don't have the car during the week so in town would be good. How was your Tayport meet up?

LEDundeeAngus · 11/02/2014 11:28

Hi all, sorry I have not been very active recently - I have been really busy at work.

How are you all doing?

OP posts:
LentilAsAnything · 11/02/2014 16:45

Hi,

No worries. I have really cut back my online time, so am not here much anyway.

We are well. I need a holiday! Still not a lot coming on the housing market, it is soooo slowwwwww.

popcorngazebo · 28/02/2014 16:25

LentilAsAnything · 01/03/2014 22:31

Hi!

Ah, we've all been quiet. Me, I am busy househunting (with the help of LED!) and it is taking up all my spare time.

It was lovely and sunny today! Woo!

Errolite · 31/03/2014 16:44

Howdy, late as always!

Hope you are all well.

CinnamonWitch · 22/04/2014 09:01

It's a slow motion conversation, isn't it? Hello, hope you are all well, or will be in two weeks or so when you read this Grin

Pehsandbridies · 23/04/2014 17:04
