Hi there, looking for some local support & advice!

I am pregnant with my 1st child and my partner & I are moving to Fairy Cross at the beginning of Feb. I have no idea which practice is best to register for the GP/ Midwife or what/where to book for the Birth. My choices are Homebirth, Barnstaple Community Hospital or Okehamption MLU, I think!

Any advice/local knowledge on the above would be much appreciated, as my current midwife has no idea other than adding the Barnstaple Maternity Tel number to my notes and telling me to register at a GP as soon as I arrive. Also, any info on local pregnancy/baby classes would be much appreciated!

Gx

Congratulations on your pregnancy. We moved back to Devon (East devon) when I was 14 weeks pregnant - so I know what it's like.

Although I grew up in North Devon (Welcombe, nr Hartland) - I've not lived there for a very long time so afraid I can't share any local knowledge.

I've heard good things about Okehampton MLU.

I'm not sure whether there are any Lazy Daisy birthing classes in Barnstaple - but if so, I'd recommend them. Might be worth seeing if the local pools hold any aqua-natal classes too.

Take a look at this page local.mumsnet.com/devon/baby-toddler-groups - looks like there's lots happening in Bideford area.

Have you joined the North Devon meet-up group?

Best of luck finding out more info and with the move xxx
