Affordable (ha!) places to live in or near Camden Town?

Any affordable places to live in or near Camden Town? I have a new job in Chalk Farm rd, so will need to commute there each morning.

My budget is around £250-£300pw.

Someone said Cricklewood or West Hampstead, but I've also heard they're not very nice :(

If you head in the direction of Kentish Town and Tufnell Park things get cheaper. Also if you follow Camden Road towards Holloway Road, again the prices drop.

West Hampstead is extremely nice. The budget will be tight for that area. Cricklewood is currently undergoing regeneration so it is becoming nice. Having said that, most of it is already nice. There are parts down towards Kilburn/West Hampstead which are good and towards Golders Green. Both West Hampstead and Cricklewood have good transport links. West Hampstead has Jubilee Line, Overground and Thameslink. Cricklewood has Thameslink (12 mins to Kings Cross, 20 mins to Blackfriars plus lots of other stations). It also has quite a few bus routes in the area and these can be used to get to the Jubilee Line or Northern within 10 minutes or you can go all the way to London and you get to go down Abbey Road!
