We've only lived in this bit of town since the children were born and have been out for dinner locally once since then. We've got a big anniversary coming up and I think it would be nice to go somewhere local. Nice food, atmosphere not too loud but not dead either. Somewhere that feels special but doesn't cost the earth. Any suggestions very gratefully received…

Hi, I love Banners in Crouch End (Caribbean food, great atmosphere, a bit noise, must check out) La Bota tapas bar in Crouch (proper Spanish food). If you prefer something a bit more elegant Le Bistro in Hornsey High St, Les Associes, Park Rd (opposite Park Rd Pool, amazing food), Qui Restaurant, Middle Lane (Italian). At all these places you must reserve.

This is one of my favourite places when heading out with DH for good food, and a relaxed atmosphere.

but there are a load of other great places in the restaurant session too.

Thanks N6Zumba, yes we love Banners too although only ever been for lunch. Thanks for the La Bota recommendation - it reminded me another friend said that was fantastic a few months ago, so might try there. Also had a look at the restaurant listings on here, thanks Izzy. And that reminded me that someone told me TooTooMoo was really great but I think they'd had a takeaway rather than going in to eat. Does anyone know what the atmosphere in TooTooMoo is like in the evenings?

La Pradera (which is a sister company) of La Bota Tapas, with much better atmosphere, very friendly staff and the best spanish food in Crouch end. Me and my partner go there every week, went even for New Year's Eve!and they have Flamenco on Sundays. They always make us feel special and it's reasonably priced.

Thanks Spaelements, I've never heard of that one, so good to consider something new! Flamenco sounds fun. Does everyone dance or is it a show?
