Cost of childcare in Sheffield?

Hi, there. Apologies, I know there are already a lot of threads on "I'm moving to Sheffield, what nurseries can you recommend?," but I'd really like to know if anyone would feel comfortable sharing what they pay (or charge!) for childcare in the area.

We may be moving to Sheffield from London in the next few months (fingers crossed, I like the sound of the place!) and are trying to figure out how much we need to live on. I'll be contacting nurseries directly but if anyone is willing to say "I pay about £9,000 per month for 5 days a week" that would be great information to have.

Our daughter will be about 2 years old by the time we move, I think.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Hi eggnut, I pay £4.30 p/h for my childminder plus she charges £1 per meal. I know you don't mention childminders in your post but I thought I'd mention it. I have never used a nursery so can't help you there sorry.

If you do decide to move to Sheffield I hope you love it as much as I do.

Thanks! Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, today is my day of the week for chasing the toddler around instead of being at work. I'm happy to consider childminders as well so that's very helpful.

Our nursery is about £500 a month for 3, 10 hour days. So that is about £40 a day ish and includes a hot meal and all nappies. Not too good at maths so that might be wrong!

I've only just seen your message, sorry if this is too late to be any use! The nursery we use is about £40 per day (8am - 6pm). This includes nappies and snacks. You can send your own food in for lunch or order school dinners for about £2 per day.

Hi,

We use Lynda Ellis (kids unlimited) in Broomhall, I love the nursery and the staff. They charge just under £50 per day but certain employer subsidies, hence I don't know the exact non subsidy rate.

Hi! We're moving to S10 area with an 11 & 10 year old. We live overseas at the moment, so tricky getting school places until we arrive. Has anyone done this?? We will rent for the first year. I like the look of Tapton but can anyone recommend other great schools please? High Storrs etc? King Edward? Also need a 3/4 bed semi with garden if anyone hears of anything! Any advice greatly appreciated Smile
