Does anyone have kids at Glendale School? Would you recommend it? My dd is starting school next year and we live in Pollokshields.

Brilliant school. Great senior management team, nurturing staff. It "team teaches" to ensure that all the kids (including those with English as an Additional Language) do well. Great atmosphere in the school.

But if you're not in its catchment, you might have difficulty getting in - I know that a couple of years ago they were within a few kids away from not even being able to take sibling placements. Not sure when the new, bigger school will be built/finished - but last I heard, the Education Deprtment was still insisting on building it to current requirements and not taking into account all the placing requests and the fact that the new flats opposite are likely to end up having kids coming through the system Hmm

Check the catchment carefully - we thought we were in Pollokshields Primary catchment as it's closer to us - but it turns out that half the street we live in is in the Pollokshields Primary catchment and hlaf (fortunately our half) is in the Glendale catchment.

Ds thrived there and is now doing well at Shawlands Academy (placing request as Bellhouston is the catchment secondary).

Thanks, that sounds really positive - going to see the school today. Glad your son had such a good experience there, and that he is doing well at Shawlands academy.

Good luck. You'll see as soon as you go in that every square inch of the place is used.
