Hi. We are relocating to Wiltshire and are looking for advice on the best areas to live. We have 3 year old and 1 year old so will be applying for primary school next year so would really like to know the best areas to look for houses.

We live in Trowbridge. I think it's got quite a lot over melksham/Chippenham. You have to keep an eye on which school you are in catchment for though.

Out of those three devizes, then Chippenham, then Melksham!

You can guess from my name where I would suggest. I moved here 17 years ago for a 6 month contract, I'm still here! I have a 5 and 3 year olds and there is plenty to do, relatively crime free, easy to get about, lots of good primaries.

I would avoid north wiltshire tbh - Devizes is a one horse town and trowbridge is a PIT - terrible schools too

Colleague lives in Trowbridge and we all take the piss a lot - he has no defence!

If you are focused on J17 of M4, have you considered Malmesbury? The secondary school (academy) recently received 'Outstanding' report from Ofstead.

It is a small place with a pricey housing market though.

Devizes is a bustling market town but quite cut off from major transport routes (m4) if you need to commute to Swindon or Bristol.

Not particularly familiar with Trowbridge or Melksham, other than to drive through occasionally so unable to comment.

Where in Wiltshire do you need to be close to?
