Safety of footbridges in Leytonstone

Hi there,

I am looking at buying in Leytonstone and I love the houses on the other side of the A12 in Upper Leytonstone however the footbridges across the A12 are concerning me.

I work shifts so often I will be arriving home at midnight or later. Has anyone got any experience or insight into how safe the footbridges are, particularly at night?

Your thoughts and experience would be welcome.

I really wouldn't walk over them at night. They are not safe.
I am thinking about the ones over the tube. The one over the A12 might be OK.

You don't need to walk over them though and if it were me, late at night I would walk on the streets instead.

That was my thought as they do look a bit dodgy. Do you know if the underpass at the station is generally ok? As its the only way in/out of the station I would imagine its pretty well used but again, I would be using it late at night.

The station exits are fine. I've been using them at all hours and never had any trouble with them.

Underpass is fine I would say. I wouldn't think twice about using that.

Thanks all, that is just what I wanted to hear! :)

I have lived in Leytonstone for nine years and never had any problems at all.

I live in Upper Leytonstone, not far from footbridge over A12 and happily use it on the way home from a night out.

I am not sure on what basis previous poster says they are 'not safe', perhaps they have a different experience but I have never been afraid or felt threatened.
