Anyone want to make friends in Malvern?

I'm the mother of a three year old (nearly four) who will start school in September. I am a single parent and I don't have any close family. I'm not working (used to run my on business as a therapist) and I'm at college and I plan to go to university the year after next. I seem to have found myself a bit low on friendships and weekends can be a but tricky.

My son gets on with nearly all children. He's friendly, sociable and very imaginative. He's big on firefighters and rescuing people at the moment. If you fancy saying hi, and maybe having a meetup with children then, please drop me a line.

BTW, to any other single parents, I having been wondering about setting up a local Gingerbread group for the Malvern area as the closest is Cheltenham. I think the idea is to try to have fairly regular meet ups and then flag up other events that others might like to join in with. Anyone interested?

Hi Shining, I'm not based in Malvern but I know a few Mners are, so hopefully they'll be along soon. Our next mn meet up is going to be in Droitwich I think which might be a bit far but please do come along to any and say hi. Maybe we could have one in Malvern :)

Can I ask some advice though as a Malvener? I'm actually meeting up with some friends in Malvern on Saturday for a picnic. Where is the best place to go in your opinion? I'm thinking Priory Park? My friend is nearly 6 months pregnant and we have a 2 year old and a 16 month old with us so treks up the hills are kind of out (especially if it's going to be as hot as the forecast predicts!).

Hi Mrscogg

Thanks for your message. Yes, I'd like to come along to the Droitwich meetup, thanks. Could you let me know when and where?

I can't think of anywhere better than Priory Park. If your friend wasn't pregnant I'd have suggested the play area in West Malvern - not sure what it's called but I think you follow signs for the Outdoors centre and follow a path - it's basically next to where West Fest is held and it's a really lovely spot - maybe for another occasion. If your friend is anything like I was when I was expecting, I wanted to be close to a loo Blush

Anyway have a great time and enjoy the sunshine.

Thanks for the Priory Park recommendation Shining - it was great, such a beautiful park. Hopefully you can make 21st July in Droitwich :)

Hi Shining,

I'm going to be moving to Worcester in a few weeks (probably to the Pershore area) and am also am single mum. I have two boys who are 6 and 4. I'm planning to come along to the meetups once I move so will hopefully see you there :)

Hi Shining, I'm in St John's and Malvern is on my regular stomping ground. I also have a DS who's nearly 4 and about to start school. I'm hoping to get to the Droitwich meetup on Sunday so we can maybe suss each other out there Grin

Hello ShiningBright and everyone who has replied.

I was about to start a thread along the lines of what you wrote ('hi, moved to Malvern, know no one, have a 4 year old starting school imminently, meet up ? Etc etc) but found you already created a thread.

So. I am jumping on your bandwagon, total newbie, looking to connect to other local mums who have similar aged children. My son is also very sociable and will no doubt make friends quickly through school and hopefully so will I!

I know school term is just upon us and that will suck free time from most of us, so my note is really to introduce myself to Malvern mums, get as much helpful info about the area for active boys, (and their mums), to get clued up on meet ups and join in as much as possible.

Wishing all parents and littles ones the best back to school ever!!

Hi - I am a single mum and new to Malvern realising that it really is quiet here and not much happening. I have a gorgeous outgoing 4 year odl who has settled really well into school.
Am considering a move to Worcester as there seems to be more life and more things to do there.
Anyway while I am still jhere, just thought I'd amble into the conversation and say hi.
Drop me a note sometime and if you fancy shopping / going for a cofee / getting tiddlywinks to play together, let me know.
