Calling all Mums in Medway, I need a minute of your time to stop more noise, more pollution and more cars coming to our neighbourhood:
Say NO to the 'Rochester Airport Master Plan'.
At least eight schools in the Rochester and Chatham area will have bigger planes flying over them more frequently if the plan is approved.
Hundreds of homes could have commercial twin engine turbo-jets flying only 140m (460ft) above them during the day and night.
40 incidents/accidents have been reported since 1980 at Rochester Airport, some fatal, and 18 of these have been since 2000. With future air traffic concentrated in North and South directions, the likely northerly crash zones will be the housing estates at Warren Wood, Cloisterham Park, Davis Estate, parts of Walderslade, Dickens Estate, City Way through to the Chatham Maidstone Road and a number of schools nearby.
So say NO to greater TRAFFIC CONGESTION as there is no plan to adapt the road infrastructure, say NO to more NOISE POLLUTION from bigger planes landing, say NO to the increased risk of ACCIDENTS due to a rise in air traffic and say NO to the council spending £4 MILLION to do it with very little return!
