Friday afternoon school free - what do you think of this proposal?

Fife Council is considering plans to reduce the school week to 4.5 days ? meaning pupils would have every Friday half day off.

According to this news website

What do you reckon? Great start to the weekend or nightmare to get childcare sorted?

I wonder how it would affect nursery sessions in nurseries that are attached to schools. My DD has her place allocated in our local school's nursery but we don't know if she has morning or afternoon sessions yet, if it's afternoons and this proposal goes through then will she miss out on a session every week?

Good question, LevenMummy.

We used to live in Switzerland, where kids had Wednesdays free. It was pretty difficult to go to work, cause of the childcare issues.

I teach in Edinburgh where they have a 4.5 week. The nurseries are 5 full days usually.

Is that Friday afternoon free then? I would be up for that.
