Hello everyone,
I wanted to let you know about a really interesting free talk that's happening on Tuesday. I hope you don't mind me using your forum.
The talk is all about the ?cuddle chemical?, or oxytocin. Neuroscientist Gareth Leng is going to present a talk all about this amazing chemical that has so much to do with babies and childbirth. This wonderful hormone helps us bond with our babies, allows milk to flow in mums who choose to breastfeed, and it?s even involved in orgasm! It does have a dark side though: oxytocin is also responsible for labour contractions.
Gareth will be on hand to answer questions after the talk too. It?s on at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), since it?s part of a bigger science event run by The Physiological Society. (Physiology is just all about how your body works.)
The lecture is from 6.30-7.30pm. Full details here: www.physoc.org/p12/annual-public-lecture.
The EICC is close to Haymarket Station. There are a couple of car parks close by: bit.ly/N2upWh.
Babies are welcome. I hope you can make it along! No need to register, please just turn up on the night.
