Meeting mums and mums to be in Saffron Walden...

Hi there

We've just relocated to Saffron Walden from London and are expecting our first in five weeks time. I'm really keen to get out and meet other local mums and wondered if anyone can recommend a bumps and babies group or perhaps a group suitable for newborns. I'm finding relocating and having a baby all at once a little daunting so all advice welcome!

I don't know Saffron Walden at all, we are relocating to Linton (so not far away) next month so I'll be in the same position has you. I did want to say I known the place is very child friendly and has lots of families -it also has terrific schools so another big plus. Maybe you could ask the health visitor when the baby is born, often they give info sheets with lists of baby groups to new mums or just ask your midwife. Otherwise, I know it sounds weird but if you get chatting to any mums when you get to Saffron Walden maybe ask them what is good locally. When I had my first I joined a breastfeeding group (the B/f didn't take off but I still went to the group and now 6 years on I'm still friends with some of the mum's - so that's a good idea for after the baby is born and also maybe join the local NCT group? that way you'll meet some lovely mum's who are at the same stage has you. Hiya! We moved here from London a few years ago and I agree it is daunting but you'll soon love it!! I've got a 3 year old and a 7 month old and go to a really nice baby group on a tuesday morning in one of the villages, newborns through to toddlers. Give me a shout if you want a friendly face as I know how hard it is turning up at these things not knowing anyone x
