What happens if you move between applying for P1 and the start of the actual school year?

We had hoped to move this year so we would have moved before applying for a P1 place for DS who will start school next year (2013). However, I don't think that's going to be possible for various reasons and I think it will be next Spring before we move.

I'm a bit worried about all the chat about how tight P1 places are. Presumably we will need to apply for a place at our current local school and then just see what the situation is for the school in the catchment we move to once we move? I'm not quite sure what happens if you move into a catchment after applications are closed.

Usually there are 2 places withheld for any moving into catchment children. These are then realeased when no one has moved into catchment come the start of the new term. You would move house and then contact placement services at the council to change the application.

Great, thanks Groovee. That's really useful to know.
