From karlmccracken.sweat365.com/2011/01/11/do-it-for-the-children/ :

^In the UK, providing your child doesn't have an inherited / genetically based disease (congenital defects, child cancers, etc), then the thing that is most likely to kill them, most likely to stop you becoming a grandparent, and most likely to stop them reaching their full adult potential ... is still a road traffic incident. [Update 11/1/11: source at www.statistics.gov.uk/articles/hsq/HSQ28_death.pdf]^

I'm hoping to make contact with other local residents interested in moving to a 20mph speed limit on the residential streets of Eastleigh and/or Chandler's Ford. With enough support this should be relatively easy to achieve and make our streets safer for all, especially our children. And it may be achievable before our kids grow up allowing them independence and mobility around the area without so much worry.

Please see www.20splentyforuk.org.uk/rationale_for_20_mph.htm (there is lots of info on that site) and reply if you are interested.

Thanks!
