As above. STBXH has employed Barr Ellison so I can't use them.

Taylor Vinters are good.

Go to www.resolution.org.uk and use the 'find a local lawyer' option. Most will chat to you for an initial few minutes on the phone for free. Taylor Vinters are good but one of the more expensive in town.

I would suggest Ian Pattinson at Biketts, David Thompson at Charles Russell, or someone from Taylor Vinters, the best lawyer in town is reputed to be Roger Bamber at Mills and Reeve however.

Cambridge family law practice are also very good.

Dont know if its too late, but Marion Tucker at Barr Ellison is brilliant.

Hollyfoot, I am now also in search of a solicitor. In what way was Marion Tucker brilliant? I would be grateful if you could elaborate on that.

Hollyfoot, as mentioned above, cannot use Barr Ellison as STBXH is using them. In fact, he is using Marion Tucker. She is reputed to be very confrontational, not collaborative.

Marion Tucker is certainly a handful. Try Mills & Reeve, Birketts, Taylor Vinters or Ashton KCJ. All 4 have 'sensible' people.

I would recommend Alison Blackman from Thomson Webb and Corfield. She's lovely.

There are several other really good family lawyers in Cambridge in the smaller firms where fees are a lot less but you get a good personal service with highly qualified lawyers - it is what you need when going through a divorce.

My ex has issued application for divorce but there's no longer Legal Aid available! Does anyone know of any alternative financial help and support available???
