alopecia/probiotics and food hospital

A long shot, but I am not taken seriously by my doc, and I wondered if anyone could recommend a doctor who knows about this stuff! I take levythyroxine, have alopecia areata, and am regularly offered antidepressants by my doc when I describe my ongoing symptoms (I'm not depressed, promise). The "food hospital" programme recently shown apparently suggested probiotics can be used to treat the symptoms of autoimmune diseases, like alopecia areata (I didn't see it - a friend told me about it). I discussed this with my doc, and was told it was nonsense. I'm fed up with my ongoing symptoms, and wondered if anyone "out there" had any success with a similar situation, and could recommend an Edinburgh doctor/herbalist/miracle worker....!

My mum went to Jan de Vries a few years ago with a list of problems. I think he has moved his clinic so google it. He certainly has lots of happy customers, but unfortunately he wasn't really able to help mum, apart from diagnosing her with anaemia just by looking at her. Her GP didn't even spot that

Would Napiers herbalists be any good for hat type of problem? There is one at Bristo Square (ish) and at Stockbridge with a satellite sort of place at Morningside.
