That's says it all really - having a child free weekend away and need a night out suggestion for a Saturday in Edinburgh. We're staying v central and want something fairly trendy but not too trendy! Been recommended the Opal
Lounge and Tiger Lily - any good?

Thanks v much in advance!

Hiya! I'm probably not the best person to advise, as I like my pubs cheap and dirty! My (one) experience of Opal Lounge was it is veeeery expensive and a bit too posh - that's just my opinion though and it's v popular. I like Ghilie Dhu - it's dead nice inside, trendy but cheerful. Hope you have fun :)
(very jealous, haven't been out properly since new year!)

If you want to glam up the Opal and Tiger Lily's are a good bet, cocktails galore! Not places to head to for a quiet chat ! Have fun.

The Living Room is nice, Ghillie Dhu is another thumbs up for me, and the candy bar is good too :)

Tiger Lily is one of the more expensive although worth a visit. I'd go for The Living Room. Check it out on line for offers ( I think early evening they do cocktail offers) Am v. jealous as haven't been in George Street for ages.

Or try La Monde which is other end of George Street from Living Room etc.
Or Tempus across the road. Or Rick's which is in Frederick Street.

Will stop now.

I second the living room, I'm not a fan of Tiger Lily and Lulu myself, but I'm like the PP who said they like thier pubs cheap and dirty! :o

If you don;t fancy George Street, the Grassmarket is always good for a pub crawl, Three Sisters is a fab bar to start off in.

I love underdogs - more of a chilled out chat place. Maybe I'm getting old but tiger Lilly and opal lounge are very trendy in my opinion- make sure you're well dressed.

SilverLining · 08/11/2011 18:18

Brilliant - thanks so much!!! To be honest I'm more excited about wandering around the airport on my own and drinking copious amounts of coffee (& Wine!) childfree! Have printed out all suggestions and will try as many as I can!!!

Thanks vv much!!!!

Amore dogs just above underdogs is great for dinner too. Great atmosphere-not too expensive. You start with drinks downstairs and drift upstairs for dinner. Hanover street I think so central.

Ps don't get too excited about Edinburgh airport - it's not flash!
