Any good child friendly restaurants/pubs in tonbridge/hadlow/hildenborough area?

Hello there! My family will be moving to Tonbridge in the next couple of weeks and I would appreciate any suggestions for a good child friendly restaurant/pub where we can celebrate my hubby's 40th birthday? I am flexible with the cuisine (I'll leave that decision to the birthday boy!) as long as the food is good and kids are welcome. Many thanks in advance.

Carpenters arms or Rose revived in hadlow, both lovely last time I went. Swan in west Peckham and the chaser in shipbourne both pretty close and my favourite places to go and eat, swan fab at lunchtime as is right on the green. The dovecot in Capel used to have a nice climbing frame but don't know if it still does. How old children? Lunch or dinner?

There's a nice pub in Speldhurst.

Hi talkingnonsense! Thanks for the suggestions. We're thinking lunch - better for the children's bedtime. My son is three and his two cousins are five and six - all boys and a noisy bunch when they get together...sigh!

Yes the George and dragon is it in speldhurst? I'm trying to think of somewhere with a nice garden for you but my boys are a bit older now. The swan would be my choice if a nice day, you can sit outside and the kids can play on the green, probably worth booking, but I don't know what the kids food is like.

Also others recommend the halfway house near brenchley, which definitely has a climbing frame, and the tickled trout in east farleigh which used to have a lovely climbing frame and did lovely fish, but haven't been for 2 years so might have changed.

The Harrow in Hadlow is very nice. We had a great lunch with my parents and children there last year. There was a climbing frame in the garden (just to the left of the photo on the website). Food was very good too. The children (then aged 6 and 4) particularly liked the yoghurt and fruit as a starter.

The Chaser in Shipbourne is great food and very friendly staff. They have a courtyard and an enclosed garden, just next to the church. Also it's opposite Shipbourne Common so you could go early and let the little ones run around (we normally sit on the bench and watch the Dads fly a kite or try to organise a game of cricket! Hilarious with the little ones!) this lets them get out some of the excitement making lunch much more peaceful - and if they are still full of energy give the Dads a quick drink and send them back with the kids. Although it is a busy main road so restrict the Dads fluid or better still the Dads can drive and be the responsible adult?!

Recently visited White Rock Inn in Underriver village. They have big garden space behind the pub where they have petanque pitch and football nets. Great setting for a sunny day. Food was alright.
